Dorothea Lange’s famous photograph Migrant Mother has so well pictured the Great Depression. She is best known for her work with the Farm Security Administration during the Depression-era. Lange’s photographs humanized the consequences of the Great Depression and influenced the development of documentary photography. I really enjoyed looking at some of her photographs the other day and thought I would post some!
While there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see.
